"Love thy neighbor as thyself".
'Religion' is a guide and education. The ten commandments are the perfect guide to living an honest life. You don't need religion to pray/talk to God - He is always there for you. Living an honest life guarantees you a good afterlife. Having seen hell myself - the message I got was not to hate anybody. Hate is something God won't forgive.
Just look at the founders of the various religions. Only one of them clearly demonstrated that He was God, by constantly doing things only God could do. He, God, founded one Church, said it was to remain one, and promised that one Church the fullness of God's truth until the end of time. Why would I be a member of any manmade church?
If any will pay your medical bills, I'd go with that one. Rest easy that your loved ones aren't bankrupt.
Read and study the Holy Bible. Put it to work in your life. Make God prove himself to you. He will... sooner or later. Lets hope for sooner. Later is too late.
John 14:6 KJV — Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
When a human being truly realizes that there is an absence of truth and happiness in his life, an absence of peace, then a fire comes from within. A real fire to find peace burns for that person from the heart, not from the head. That person starts to search.
Look for the thirst. It is the thirst within that propels us in the right direction. That is what we need—the rediscovery of the passion for joy. Let that be the driving force.
When this life feels full, when this breath is not being thrown away, kindness begins to manifest. Kindness is the outpouring of a heart filled with joy. That is when peace comes into our lives. That is when we begin to find the resolution to our problems. It is not that our problems are resolved, but that we find within a simplicity that is magnificent.

There is a danger in choosing a religion based solely on how it makes us feel. The Bible foretold a time when people would “surround themselves with [religious] teachers to have their ears tickled.” (2 Timothy 4:3) In contrast, the Bible encourages us to follow “the religion that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and Father,” even if that religion is unpopular.—James 1:27, True religion is a way of life, not just a ritual or a formality. Its followers adhere to the Bible’s high moral standards in all aspects of life. (Ephesians 5:3-5; 1 John 3:18) Rather than being grim, though, they find joy in worshipping “the happy God.”—1 Timothy 1:11. True religion promotes unselfish love. (John 13:35) It teaches respect for all ethnic groups and welcomes people from all races, cultures, languages, and backgrounds. (Acts 10:34, 35) Moved by love, its followers do not go to war.—Micah 4:3; 1 John 3:11, 12.that's just to name a few ways of identifying the true religion.

The way to God (and therefore heaven) is through a person, not a religion.
Jesus is the door; the gate; the way...
The real-life PORTAL into God’s kingdom which is here: so close you can touch it.
Jesus called himself ‘teacher’ and ‘Lord’. Go to him and see what it is he wants to teach you. If he is the Lord that he claims to be, he himself will reveal that fact to you. He doesn’t need me to convince you of his deity, nor could I.
