Is there only one true religion? How to recognize the true religion?

By looking at the founders of the various religions, to find the one Who clearly demonstrated that He was God, by constantly doing things only God could do. He, God, founded one Church, said it was to remain one, and promised that one Church the fullness of God's truth until the end of time. So, why would I want to be a member of any of the unauthorized manmade denominational churches, where the teaching of each one contradicts the teaching of the others?

Religion was created to control people, or to help them try to be good enough to go to heaven (and that's stupid). No one can be good enough. I know I'm not.


If God is real why would he use conflicting ways to find him? Wouldn't ONE God offer ONE plan? The Author of life surely knows how to live it best, so why would He offer some people a substandard way?

Science, religions and philosophies have no plan to deal with our failure. They all teach ways of generating more success, but when we do fail they have no way to wipe out our "sin".

Hinduism and Buddhism say our sin will effect our karma and we'll come back as a lower life form; how cruel! Your memories are wiped clean during this process of reincarnation; so how can you learn a lesson from your past mistakes? It's just hit and miss each lifetime -- being punished for a past we don't even know about.

Islam teaches we'll be allowed into heaven based on works. Deeds will be weighed on a scale and if there is more good than bad, then we get in. If not, too bad for us. But how can a PERFECT God who lives in a PERFECT place let IMPERFECT people in? They would bring in sin and selfishness and heaven would become corrupted: Heaven would cease to be perfect. So how can God let sin into heaven?

No, it just makes reasonable sense that all human failure would have to be eradicated and all people fully purified if they are going to enter this totally pure place without contaminating it. And that's what the cross does! 

The Jews were the only other people who believed that sin had to be done away with if they wanted to go to heaven. This happened in Old Testament days through animal sacrifices. But since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD they have stopped these sacrifices with no satisfactory explanation as to what happens to their sin now. As Christians, we know that the animal sacrifices are no longer necessary, because Jesus was the final infinite, perfect sacrifice for all humanity.

How will you get rid of your sin without Jesus?  You can't.  There is no such thing as DIY salvation.

"Love thy neighbor as thyself".

Yes. True religion is a way of life, not just a ritual or a formality. Its followers adhere to the Bible’s high moral standards in all aspects of life. (Ephesians 5:3-5; 1 John 3:18) Rather than being grim, though, they find joy in worshipping “the happy God.”—1 Timothy 1:11.True religion highlights Jesus Christ as the one through whom God grants salvation. (Acts 4:10, 12) Its followers obey Jesus’ commands and strive to follow his example.—John 13:15; 15:14.True religion promotes unselfish love. God was created by men. Atheists should be proud, not apologetic. Atheism is evidence of a healthy, independent mind.

The Catholic Church is entirely responsible for the composition of the Bible, which books are included, as well as the breakup of the chapters and verses. Protestants have removed some books of the Bible because some of the verses were inconsistent with their theology. Martin Luther was a prime offender in this regard, removing Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach and Baruch. He also made an effort to remove James and Revelations, but this was rejected by his followers and those two books were kept. Catholics are often accused of "adding" the books, but despite this common belief, it is false. Older, pre-Protestant, Catholic translations of the Bible include them.
