"HAVE A [adjective - normally, good, bad, difficult] TIME doing something" is a kind of Fixed Expression telling the experience (what you feel) of doing something.

- I had a good time reading a book. (O) ---gerund (O)
- I had a good time to read a book. (X) ---infinitive (X)

I had a quiet time reading a book.
= I spent my time (in) reading a book in a quiet environment.
= I enjoyed reading a book quietly.

1. a quiet time 是對的.

2.
A) I had a quiet time reading a book. (O)
B) I had a quiet time to read a book. (O)
A)之中 quiet time與reading a book是平行的.
B)之中隱喻 quiet time是reading a book的手段.reading a book是a quiet time的目的.

3. 它例:
He went to the kitchen to make a sandwich.(較合理-因為要到廚房才可以開始做三文志)
He went to the kitchen making a sandwich.

I had [a quiet time](受詞) [reading a book](受詞補語).

2."a quite time"必須修正為"quite a time"
文法規定,名詞之前須有形容詞,才可寫成a quite 例如a quite good time. 否則必須寫成quite a time.

I had qute a time reading a book.,
I had quite a time to read a book.,
.
