The difference between relative adverb and types of adverb clause can be learnt from:-
(a) Types of adverbs=adverbs:- eg:--
time::-now,soon, then,today, tomorrow.
place:-in front of, behind, indoors, here, overseas.
manner:-carefully,quickly, quietly, smoothly, thoughtfully.
degree:-almost,merely, quite(not quiet), somewhat, utterly.
contingency:-hence, so, still, thus,nevertheless.
modality:-maybe, presumably, probably, really, allegedly.---really express modality:-eg:-One's smile is really cool.I really believe one in response.
restrict-added:-also, hardly,only(not one),relatively, too.
viewpoints:-arguably,obviously, regrettably, undeniably,fortunately.
(b) Let types of adverbial clause=adverb clause:-eg:-
They arrived "when the ONE was sitting"--(time)
A faeces on the road 007 showed "where the ONE had seated--(place)
They took photo of the site "so that they could show to the policeTW"---(purpose)
We took photo "because we had one and only one evidence"---(reason)
We can only find the murderer"if we tell the truth"--(condition)
eg:-ONE said, then ONE said, then One said as told in one's way.How does one work? How to load the software ?-------(manner)
The road sign looked "like it had been run over"---(comparison/similar)
You feel "as if you're sharing that failure in Exam. moment"----(hypothetical comparison)
Note some subordinators are ambiguous in adv.
as(time, reason,manner) and since(time, reason) while concession(although, though, while), contingency(if, whether),result(so that;so) manner(as)
Hence adverb clause is a clause; while adverb group is used in systemic-functional grammar for the adverb clause which includes the adverb phrase, which includes the adverb(=one word)..
