Did you know that sugar-coated preaching is dangerous to your soul?
The time will come when people will not listen to the true teaching. But people will find more and more teachers who please them. They will find teachers who say what they want to hear. People will stop listening to the truth. They will begin to follow the teaching in false stories.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 ERV
It is better to speak the truth that hurts and then heals than falsehood that comforts and then kills

Yes. I knew that. Good post. Hopefully, some will listen.
You probably didn't know that the Scripture you quoted was part of the readings from the Old Latin Mass for this day, St. Silvester. 2 Timothy 4:1-9 which you paraphrased in part.
This day (I read this) in the old liturgical calendar is December 31. He was pope during the reign of Constantine, during conflict with the Arian and Donatist heretics. The liturgical observation of this obscure Catholic saint's commemoration was established centuries ago.
[1] I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: [2] Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. [3] For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: [4] And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. [5] But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober.
[6] For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand. [7] I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. [8] As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming. Make haste to come to me quickly. [9] For Demas hath left me, loving this world, and is gone to Thessalonica:
(The Gospel reading for the same day: Luke 12:35-41)
My faith is further reaffirmed.
If you don't sugarcoat and you preach about all of the things in the Bible, then people will reject God and you'll scare everybody away from christianity.
Except what people like you call "true preaching"..? Only makes me despise Christianity, progressively more and more. To the point that, even if it WERE true..? I would want precisely f*ck-all to do with it! It is disgusting, and horrible, and hateful, and close-minded, and immoral to the nth degree!
As for Christians being kind..? That makes me accept Christianity more. But it still does NOT make me ever want to become a Christian, myself. Not my path, at all. Never was, and never will be. Not even in its most liberal, innocuous form.
But yeah... I guess I'm probably not a part of your target group.
