I prefer you not to hang out with Peter. 請問一下 , prefer可不可以這樣用,有沒有文法上的錯誤?

I prefer to wait (rather than go at once).
I prefer not to wait.（我寧可不等）在做為受詞的不定詞前可以加上否定副詞not
I prefer you to start early.（我寧願你早一點出發）prefer +受詞＋不定詞（受詞補語）

辭典中雖並未有例句出現受詞補語可用not加以否定，但依第二句的狀況，第三句應該可以加上not。

所以 I prefer you not to hang out with Peter.應該沒有文法問題。
不定詞是動狀詞（verbal），可以接受副詞的修飾，而not是副詞。

to choose one thing or action rather than another; like better.
eg:-I prefer" Patrick" to" Peter".-----in Not to hang out-----
=eg:-I prefer you not to hang out with Peter.
=eg:-I would prefer you not to hang out with Peter.
