Compute the following
(a) (1254)^(-1)(123)(45)(1254)
Why the answer is (134)(25) but not (123)(45) since (1254)^(-1) is the inverse of (1254) they can be cancelled out.

(b) (123)(45)(1254)^(-2)
What (1254)^(-2) means??

(c) (1254)^2(123)(45)
it is equal to (1254)(1254)(123)(45)?

Thanks

(a) permutation product is not commutative, i.e. PQ is not equal to QP in general.(b) P^(-k) should mean P inverse then repeat k times or P repeat k times then inverse [P^(-1)]^k or [P^(k)]^(-1) (c) yes
