所幸英文也有沒頭沒腦的說法

cost 你什麼呢? cost 你多少呢? 那都是另外的話了

But you need to pay a price

假如你做錯某事，需付出代價You have to pay the price.假如你得到好處，需要付出一個代價You have to pay for return.

通常如果付錢就說付錢 pay for it.

但是代價 (price) 不一定指金錢。可能版大指的是這個，而非付錢？
強調 代價，我認為 price 這個字一定要用。 cost 通常僅指價錢。

本人讚同GOD的翻譯。
price不必也不應寫出來，因為按語意，這裡的「代價」不是指你要付什麼價錢，而是你會有相當的「損失」。用pay for it己足夠表達中文的原意了。

這裡所謂的中文的”代價”是個贅詞
同理
英文的"the price", "the cost"也是贅詞
意思就是不用翻譯的詞
翻譯了不但沒必要,反而顯得多餘

如果是英語母語系的外國人
他們要表達”你需要付出代價”
他們只會說
"You have got to pay ."
或是
"You have got to pay for it(或that)."

But you need to pay a price for that.

For example, if you steal, the price you need to pay is going to jail and becoming a prisoner.

I don't pay, I steal...

按照語氣，前面有話，類似 "當然你可以... 但是妳需要付出一個代價"

最合適的說法是：
(Of course you can...) But, (my friend,) you've got a price to pay.

You still haven't paid me the price you owe me for the services/goods etc.

Yet you have to pay the price.
