The verbs in both the sentences

The work has been finished for two years.
He has been killed for two years.

are inappropriately used with the adverbial phrase for a period of time. Please read Godfrey's comment in the Opinion section. The verb should tell how long an action or situation continues for. In both your sentences, the action did not go on for two years. Instead, both verbs denote actions that happened only once.

The examples are
She has lived in the house for two years.
They have played in the beach for two hours.
He has studied under the professor for three years.

Your sentences can be better written in the following way:

It has been two years since the work was finished.
It has been two years since he was killed.

The work has been finished for two years. 呢句應該係啱，因為finished可以當形容詞 (By all means!)

"The work has been unfinished for two years." is correct.
If 'finished' is used as an adjective, "the work has been finished for two years" makes sense.

He has been killed for two years. ~ 很少人會這麼講.
不是 grammar 錯, 是 usage 問題, 無尊重死者

He has been dead for two years. (Ling is correct.)
