請問「高級工程師」和「資深工程師」的英文有何差別？

眾說紛紜之下，忙到天昏地暗的三助也來湊湊熱鬧。

記得曾看過這種分級：初級、中級、高級分別以
Engineer, Staff I
Engineer, Staff II
Engineer, Staff III
來代表

至於資深工程師，無疑是 Senior Engineer

這兩個職稱放在一起： Engineer, Staff III, Senior Engineer
應該很少人會誤解 高級工程師 比 資深工程師 的位階高

明天我再把您提供的豐富職稱選項給他們瞧瞧好了。因為他們不只有一個「高級工程師」，也不只有一個「資深工程師」，又說「資深工程師」比「高級工程師」的職位來得高。所以我遲遲不敢用Principal Engineer來形容任何一個(因為有「首席」的意思。

以前我實在沒想到過，職稱的東西，會有這麼麻煩。

Senior Specialist高級專家

One title at one company may not be the same as that of another company.

I did a research on HR structure and found that "senior eng" actually is low level job title in most tech companies.

One important concept on titles is:

it can come with rank as well as responsibility.

Generally, all eng have ranks. US fed uses salary grades and many defense companies follow same scheme. For example, Staff eng (專員）may map to Exempt 12.

But this dude may also be a tech lead (lead engineer) in one project and chief system eng in another. These titles are all from "responsibility" of the time.

You can have the title of grand poohbah of your choice if you can deliver.

Job titles and ranks are becoming meaningless in many tech firms. Grand poohbah yesterday may become grand deadwood tomorrow.

One start up firm I know of has only 1 rank - partner. Of course, 0.01% partner can be ousted by 51% partner anytime at will.

PE professional engineer 在國內通常是指技師考試及格,持有證照的專業技師,例如電機技師,土木技師等等

一般說來，“高級工程師”和“資深工程師”的英文應該是一樣的。如果二者職位等級有所分別的話，較高的職位應翻成Principal Engineer；較低的職位則翻成Senior Engineer.

根據國情，"Principal"是翻成“首席”。但是在美國的科技業，"Principal"是指某個職稱(such as engineer, scientist...etc)中最高的職等(ranking).

我工作的公司, consultant engineer 的職位在 senior engineer 之上
我的一個朋友, 他是一個 senior programmer, 在 senior programmer 之上的職位是 consultant programmer, 也許高級工程師可以翻譯為 consultant engineer.

but, in general, there is only one principal engineer in whole organization.

不能將「高級工程師」翻成professional engineer
高級工程師跟資深工程師一樣是senior engineer喔!

高級工程師 應該是 advanced engineer 才對

因為國外並不是這麼分的，而且據我所知，國內都是將工程師分成不同等級，例如1級，2級------級數 越大，薪水越高。
所以只能作建議而已
advanced engineer 高级工程師
senior engineer 資深工程師

1.還有一個名詞是 chief engineer
有人翻譯成總工程師或主任工程師 。不過總工程師也是全公司只有一位，所有工程師的頭頭。
2.資深工程師senior engineer，會有很多位，
因為隨著職位爬升，沒有職缺，但表現不錯，所以給他一個頭銜叫senior engineer 資深工程師(也許比較年長，德高望眾), 當然也會加些薪水。
3不過版大想將高級工程師，只譯成engineer 並不妥當。

每個公司的工作title跟他們的組織與任務編制有關. 往往兩個公司要做深一層接觸, 都會畫一個org chat...把誰是誰的老闆, 那個部門與哪個部門分工合作大概介紹一下. 所以, title不會讓人尊敬. 有管到事情才會讓人尊敬.

你如果不想用Senior Engineer. 可以用 lead engineer. 表示說, 這個工程師是帶一個team的. Principal Engineer 也見過.

此外, 還要看他的ranking. manager是一級, director 又是一級. Specialist通常在公司不是常設級等. 有些高, 有些低. 不建議用.
