There being no bananas left (at home), I went to the supermarket to buy some.
(家中沒有香蕉,我到超市去買。)
On the sentence above, someone made these two statements:

1. "There" in the phrase is a redundancy.
Being no bananas left, I went to the supermarket to buy some.

2. There being no bananas left (at home), I went to the supermarket to buy some. =/= (NOT EQUAL TO) (家中沒有香蕉,我到超市去買。)

Being no bananas left, I went to the supermarket to buy some.
= I was no bananas left, and I went to the supermarket to buy some.
= 我是沒有香蕉,我到超市去買。

這句子的意思不通,不合邏輯。


There being no bananas left (at home), I went to the supermarket to buy some.
= There was no bananas left (at home), and I went to the supermarket to buy some.
= (家中)沒有香蕉,我到超市去買。

這句子的意思清晰,合邏輯。
