Introductory P.Phase

Taking a bus, I went to supermaket.

Can anyone tell me the ACTUAL meaning of this ridiculous sentence?
更新1:

Yes, the participial phrase serves as an introductory phrase which describes the subject I. Then who is taking a bus? It's "I". If so, how can the subject was at the supermaket before taking a bus? That's my question. It isn't just ONE event. There are two events instead.

Taking a bus is part of the process of going to the supermarket.
Taking a bus and going to the supermarket is actually one event.

Dumbass, can you tell me the definition of a P. phrase? Travelling by bus or taking a bus makes no difference. Is it your own personal judgment or your own interpretation? As you seen respondent 1's answer, he / she is confused with what you've written!!! It's a shame!

Actually, Lok shouldn’t ask me. Lok should ask you as it’s your sentence but not mine. I’m wondering if you don’t really understand Hoak’s theory or you’re not going to understand it. Either way I don’t mine. I just wanna ask you this one more time. Does Hoak’s article apply to your sentence?

Roaring through the night, the tornado ripped through the wheat fields.

Dumbass, is this sentence referring of the sense and feeling????

Yes, you are the one who cannot be reasoned with. You think you are even better than the copyeditor, Deanna Hoak. So that’s why you can’t agree with her opinion. What a shame!!! Who do you think you are? You also think of what you said are the empirical rules and those other than that are Xhit.

Taking a bus is not describing the process of boarding the bus. Taking a bus generally is understood to mean travelling by bus.

The quoted sentence is not a good example of a present participle phrase. It was written to show how little and distorted you understood participle phrase.

I have nothing to say if you accept answer 001's answer.

"I had went to the supermarket."

I think TOMING88's answer is better.

Actions happening at the same time is not the only condition for a present participle phrase. Actually, there is no problem with "Unlocking the door, she left the room."

I don't completely agree with Noak.

What do you want to say in 008? Taking a bus is not about feeling. so what?

2012-10-07 21:01:15 補充:
What? You think that "went to the supermarket" happens before "takin a bus"?

No wonder you asked the question on
"Feeling cold, I took off the coat."

"Sensing danger, she left the building."

Does leaving the building happen before sensing the danger?

Finally I understand why you ask this stupid question.

Having taken a bus,-----Absolute construction clause refering to subject"I",
I went to supermarket.--------main clause.
Your "Taking a bus " should not be treated as an introductory participle phrase.
