2. 如何分辨gerunds和participles ? ed和ing都有?

Gerunds can be the subject or object of a sentence.
Swimming is a good exercise.
I like walking.

Gerunds are common after a preposition.
He was tired of running up and down the stairs.
She has difficulty in understanding physics.

Gerunds are nouns. They do need a subject as shown in the above sample sentences.

Present and past participles are two forms of a verb. As verbs, they have subjects even if the subjects are not explicitly stated.

Feeling tired, they took a rest. (the implied subject is "they")
The team having lost 5 games in a row, the manager sacked the coach.
The man wearing a blue shirt is Peter's uncle.
The man arrested by the police broke in our house last night.

3. (Having lost/Lost) time is never found again.
這裡為什麼不用having lost
Lost is an adjective in "lost time".
比較下句：
Having lost an hour in the traffic jam, they rushed to the airport.

4. (Feeling/Having felt) exhausted ,the worker sat down .
這裡為什麼不用having felt
The worker sat time at the time he felt exhausted, not after he felt exhausted.

5.以下句子錯在 ?
Some of my friends had invited to the party cannot come.
Correction:
Some of my friends who has been invited to the party cannot come.
Some of my friends invited to the party cannot come.

6.把原句子寫成participle (但錯了不知道原因)
原 : Ken saw Jane . she was playing basketball .
錯的 : Ken seeing Jane to play basketball.
Correction:
Ken saw Jane playing basketball.

原:The boy was chased by dos .He cried out for help .
錯: Chasing by a dog , the boy cried out for help .
Correction:
Chased by a dog, the boy cried out for help.

前句並不是被動，而是主動式，having received 是完成式。

句頭可以加 Having嗎 ?
不可以。

suggest to do something 是香港英語，正確是

suggest that we do something (suggest + noun clause)

gerund: 1. 在特定字後面才有,2. 只有一個句子

participles通常用在2個句子合併做一個句子中, 或不想用全句去表示額外意思時用

3. (Having lost/Lost) time is never found again.
這裡為什麼不用having lost (以往失去的時間)


因為participles不可以同時放2個動詞呀,have是動詞,lost又是動詞

4. (Feeling/Having felt) exhausted ,the worker sat down .
這裡為什麼不用having felt (感到累之後才坐下)


和第3條原因一樣

Some of my friends had invited to the party cannot come.

溜連接詞
正確是:
Some of my friends had invited to the party but they cannot come


6.把原句子寫成participle (但錯了不知道原因)
原 : Ken saw Jane . she was playing basketball .
錯的 : Ken seeing Jane to play basketball.


改participle的方法是找出在2句子中,那句是原因句,或那句發生的時間比較早,把這句的動詞改成ing或ed,
但這句不是participle, 這句是gerund呀!
e.g.Ken saw Jane .
she was playing basketball playing .

Ken saw Jane playing basketball.






原:The boy was chased by dos .He cried out for help .
錯: Chasing by a dog , the boy cried out for help .

唔用得ing,因為這是被動句,被狗追, Chased by a dog , the boy cried out for help .

前句為什麼是被動 ?

因為成績是被人睇的呀,成績佢自己識睇自己的嗎?而且,你確定是having received不是 received嗎?

句頭可以加 Having嗎 ?

可以,因為Exhausted 不是動詞

9. It being sunny , they suggested a hiking activity.
為什麼是It being ? 可以 IT WAS嗎
後句可以改為they suggested to go hiking 嗎
