Why do I always fall for idealized versions of people?

I fall for someone but my own idealized version on them... not who they really are. Why is this?

That is a choice you make. You can choose to fall for the ideal and end up being run over by the real which takes far more maintenance. Perhaps you really want to fail at relationships because you do not believe you are worthy of a real one.
