What is complement?

Can someone tell me what is complement? I don't understand it, and don't know how to do the exercise that the teachers gave me! I AM IN F.1! THANK YOU!! :]

complement中文叫補語，顧名思義，它的功用是給主詞或受詞作補充資料如：He is a king.（king就是為主詞He的補充，他是甚麼？他是皇帝）
又：She is beautiful. (beautiful也是對主詞的補充）
They elected him President.（President是受詞him的補語，補充究竟他們選他作甚麼）
I made her happy.（happy是受詞補語的補充）
He lay dead.（dead是來補充主詞he)
What he said come true.（true是what he said的補語）

是讚賞或附加補充形容更好的用詞
I cannot tell what exercise your teacher gave you, so my guess is write or use some words to say better things about something.
