A: you could see the runners very well from where we stood.
B: you could see the runners very well from which we stood.

which one is wrong?

I dare say your teacher is absolutely wrong if he has made that statement.

"which" is a relative pronoun. But in sentence B, "which" refers to nothing and so which cannot be put in that place.

Look at the sentence below:
We are standing on the 70th floor of the building from which we have a panoramic view of the harbour. (correct, which refers to 70th floor of the building)

You could see the runners very well from where we stood.
= You could see the runners very well from the place that we stood.

Only sentence A is correct.
