You are decided to rent copying services from KK Xeroxing Services Inc.. The KK company offers you two types of contracts: The Department can simply pay 5 cents per pages, or the department can pay a yearly fee of $300 and in addition pay 2 cents per pages.

A) Draw a department's total photocopying expenses as a function of the number of copies made each year under two types of contracts.

B ) Conclude which contract is less costly, given the number of copies made each year.

A)
Let E be the photocopying expenses.
Let Q be the number of photo copies.

With no yearly fee
E = 0.05Q

With a yearly fee
E = 200 + 0.02Q

(Draw the two lines on a pane with E as the Y-axis and Q as the X-axis)

B)
The number of copies for which both plans cost the same
0.05Q = 300 + 0.02Q
Q = 10000

To make more than 10000 photo copies each year, the plan with a yearly fee is less costly.
