請問
Many people check their e-mail and browse the Web with music _____ all the while.
要用played 還是playing 呢
課本是寫playing
可是music應該是被播放吧所以要用被動式??
還是因為後面有all the while 表示一直在進行所以要用ing啦(個人解讀)
是嗎?
請問這題為何不用被動式?

這題的場景是一邊看E-mail ,或流覽網頁，一邊欣賞著一直播放(現在進行式)著的音樂其實只要能表達 進行式，不管主動，被動(但要知道手法) 皆可。
(正確)Many people check their e-mail and browse the Web with music __playing ___ all the while.
(也正確) Many people check their e-mail and browse the Web with music _being played ____ all the while.

這裡用playing的原因是play用在音樂方面時，除了可當及物動詞vt. (比如：播放唱片)，
另外也可當不及物動詞vi. (比如：音樂正在播送)，這一句就是play的不及物動詞用法，既然是不及物，當然不可能是被動式了。
試比較以下兩種用法的例句：
＜及物動詞＞
She is playing her new CD.
＜不及物動詞＞
My favourite music is playing on the radio.

不是後面的關係~這有點是慣用法 重點擺在browse這個字
既然有動詞在前 再次用被動就嫌累贅~music也可當是自己撥放
因為機器在動 cd也自己動 不是嗎?
