有關reported speech既問題 請指教

"Next time" is changed to "the next time" in reported speech. I don't think "the following time" is a natural expression, if not incorrect.

He said, "I will certainly score better next time."
He was sure he would score better the next time.

The answer is positive!
In reported speech, you need to make changes in time, place and some particular words:

Direct speech --------> Reported speech
next week --------> the week after; the following week.
