despite 同 although 有咩分別？

Although 的詞性是連接詞(conjunction)而 Despite 是介詞(preposition)。

Although 最常用的用法是作「雖然」，Although 後可以跟形容詞(adjective)或完整的分句(clause)。
例：
Although everyone played very hard, we still lost the game.
Although small, the kitchen is well equipped. (這裏用 though 會較好，Although it is small 文法上較正確)

Although 亦可用作 but 「但是」，比較下面兩組都是正確句子：
Although everyone played very hard, we still lost the game.
Everyone played very hard, although we still lost the game.

I felt he was wrong, although I did not say so at the time.
Although I felt he was wrong, I did not say so at the time.

Despite 同樣解「雖然」，後面一定要跟名詞(noun) 或動名詞(gerund, verb + ing)
例：
Despite the fact that everyone played very hard, we still lost the game.
Despite having played very hard, we still lost the game.

Despite the heat, the players did not show any sign of tiredness.
He won the race despite the fact that he hurt his leg the day before.
Despite applying for hundreds of jobs, he is still out of work.

He is very naughty (noisy?) despite being asleep = 雖然瞓着左,佢都係好噪

除非瞓着左,否則佢好噪. 英文是
He is very noisy unless he is asleep.

都係連接詞,意思一樣,不過despite多一個意思:1雖然,但係,2除左
although,通常用喺最前(擺中間都得),後面跟成句,已經包埋but嘅意思,所以一定唔可以+but喺後面,意思/用法同though/even though一樣
例: Although he is a boy, he is gentle雖然佢係男仔,但係好溫柔.
despite,後面跟名詞,或....+ing,放喺邊度都得,多數喺前面,同in spite of意思/用法
例: He is very naughty despite being asleep除非瞓着左,否則佢好噪.
