I don't know but in a way I feel "fate" is more of a 命运 then to a 綠份 Do you think there is any other word closer then that?

拙见 曾在 http://hk.knowledge.yahoo.com/question/question?qid=7008091200850說「緣」: 「緣是中國的、東方的觀念。西方沒有完全相同意思的詞語。緣是不刻意的邂逅，不经意地走在一起。英語的predestination意思比較接近，是指宿命上註定發生的事。」
「緣分」跟「緣」有些不同，是人和人相投合的情分，in English 緣分 can mean:
affinity (人與人之間的吸引力)
or
fate by which people are brought together (把人牽在一起的命運)
