To twox_manMy work is about internet application development. I subscribe to cable internet and my 'other' home in HK uses PCCW and NOW TV, so I know a little about cable and DSL modem.

Router is a tool for networking. You can share one internet connection with 4 PCs (most router has 4 ports at the back, advanced type has more).

So, to your questions

No, they have to be both connected to the same router.

Cable or Telephone line from the wall outlet -> Modem -> Router -> PC1 PC2 PC3 PC4

No, that depends on your (network interface card) NIC card. Most the NIC cards are 10/100 Mbps but newer nic cards are 10/100/1000 Mbps. Some of the routers are 108Mbps although most of them are 54Mbps.

3, 支援PCCW既ROUTER大約幾多$$嫁?
Most routers can support both DSL and Cable, so it really depends on your budget. Router price ranges from $300 - $700 HKD
