Don't buy if the shop doesn't let you try a bow above $500.
You have to try a bow to feel how "playable" of the bow. A good bow should be look straight from top. A good bow should be light and balanced when you play anywhere, and easily bounce on strings (i.e. spiccatao).
At your proposed price range, I suggest you choose at Tom Lee main shop or Hong Kong Strings http://www.hongkongstrings.com if you are totally inexprienced. They both let you test violin bow.
If I were you, at this price range I will buy a bow made in Swiss.

Or even a bow from Germany, Italian ones are out of that range. A 'perfect'' bow is about 64gram to 72gram (around those numbers).

$4000-$6000嘅弓一定有得試,很多大的琴行或提琴專門店都有,品質較佳ge violin弓容易發聲和控制,做跳弓時有輕易的自動跳弓效果但必須和優質小提琴一起,只要做到這效果那甚麼牌子,木材同埋形狀的意義就不太重要。
