My edited version of the passage:A long time ago, people already liked listening to music. They had to carry a big and heavy device, such as Discman or walkman, to listen to music. In addition, they had to bring a lot of CDs or cassettess so they could choose what music they would like to enjoy.
Sorry, this is not the best version, but if I change more of it, the meaning might be altered...
