There was a dramatic 引人注目的 rescue 救援 in Tsuen Wan this morning when a fire swept through (swept through 怎解？) an apartment (apartment 是否解出租房間或公寓？) in a residential 住宅的 block (block 是否解樓？). Firefighters (Firefighter 和 Firemen 的分別？) had to lead more than 30 panicked 驚恐的 residents 居民 to safety after a maintenance 保養 worker 工人 accidentally 意外地 triggered 觸發 a gas explosion 爆炸 which started the fire 失火.

1)Narrow Escape 可譯作死裡逃生。
2)Swept through在這裡解作付諸一炬。
3)Apartment一般指多層大廈內的住宅單位，而block在這裡指building block，即大廈。
4) 兩者均指消防員，firemen 是舊式的英式用法，firefighter則多見於美式英語，而隨著女消防員的出現，在社會講求男女平等的大氣候下，firemen 已不合時宜，屬於政治不正確的用法，分分鐘被指性別歧視。
