What is the time on Mars,important for NASA missions? Is it just set at US EST + the time it takes for signal to arrive, set as a standard?

The Martian day is referred to as a "sol" and there's a whole Martian calendar and timekeeping system based on its days and years.

I will guess GMT, Greenwich Mean Time. Greenwich is in England. Greenwich is opposite the International Date Line. An educated guess.

It would have to be a US time zone, since the US owns Mars.
