No. Trolls are the immediate cause, but they were able to take over the site due to the decision to change how it was moderated, which I think was triggered by failure to monetise it effectively.  However, they don't seem to have been proactive in exploring its potential.

No, but it might be that Yahoo Answers came close to causing the end of some atheists here, because many, if not most, of the Christians in this forum practiced Christ's message of love by threatening atheists with the eternal fires of hell if they didn't convert.

This company chose to handle the subject of religion like a greedy and godless enterprise.  They were not the first to try it but they were one of the last.

Creating a generic religion section and then putting ads for liquor in it is 100% Atheist/Satanic.  You rake in the cash as people clash over religion.  You create easy ways for mockers to hide and deride people for their faith.  It is a toxic soup they brewed because the people running the show had no reverence for God or faith.
