No, I grew up in the forests with the giant Sequoias. The biggest trees on earth. We called the Wawoh'na

I like healthy big trees.  But, if they are diseased or are leaning to one side, they are more likely to be downed during a storm which could be dangerous to people or cause property damage.  Also, tree branches need to be pruned away from utility wires and any building structures on the property.

Some of those big trees with all the branches bare in the dead of winter can look scary sometimes.

Yes I am because one crushed my whole family to death when I was a kid except my grandfather and I. We were the only two survivors out of 35 of us. It was in the Derecho storm of 1995. Now I’m the only one surviving as he died two years ago.  He and I were literally the last two survivors in the family.

My mom and stepdad had money burning their pockets, though, so recently they had every tree in proxy of the house cut down - not out of fear but just for the heck of it.

Not afraid of trees per se', I will admit the only fear of trees I have is if they are too close to my house and pose a danger if any part of them happens to fall and damage the house.  I have been in situations or seen situations where a fallen tree has done severe damage to homes.  It was expensive and time consuming to fix a problem we had with a big tree that was in my back yard.  I have trees in my yard now, they are either too small to do any real damage if they fall or far enough away from my house to not pose a threat.  :)

Only when a Tropical Storm or a  Hurricane hits and trees start falling, because of how windy it gets. Other than that,  big trees do not bother me. They are a beautiful part of nature.

No, tall rainforest trees are about the best living things on Earth.   Think on some of them that have survived a couple of centuries and the lives they supported and sheltered.  If we all planted trees how much healthier our planet would be.  Yet humans seem obsessed with the idea of bringing them down, burning and clearing every last remnant that ever existed.  We should revere the giants and let their kind live on.  Humans however have a tendency to plant unsuitable trees, that have a tendency to drop branches, etc. next to their dwellings.  Some trees are only appropriate in forest situations where older trees protect the saplings from weather damage.  A little research should be undertaken to select the best trees to grow near your house.

Only when they fall.  I have 1 Tulip Poplar, 1 White Oak, and 1 Red Maple that are in excess of 100 feet tall.  I used to have 2 more Tulip Poplars but a Sweetgum in my neighbors farm fell and knocked down one on the other side of the creek that knocked down the other on this side of the creek that took off the corner of my roof and squished my Challenger.  My neighbor had passed away about 3 months before and I had no idea who his heirs were to contact.  I would post pictures but this site doesn't allow any larger than 5 MP.

If it's really - really windy or they look dead then I'm afraid of them falling on me, my house, or my car.

No. I had a cabin in Rio Nido with 5 Young sequoias. Only 50 feet tall...and Growing. They make "oaks" look like Shrubs.  Large trees have taproots as deep and as long as the tree. More stable than a building.
 Saguaros on other hand, fall if over watered. One did, it weighed 1200 lbs, bounced off the house and tore a railing loose. AZ doesn't have a state tree, we use  the Saquaro cactus as it's  often as big as a tree, and unique to Sonoran desert.
