A. ... a babble of voices from the next room.

B. ... a babble of people from the next room.

No.  People might be a rabble, but not a babble, which describes a sound.

babble mean: a murmuring sound or a confusion of sounds.
so you need only say "a babble from the next room"
If it is important that the sound is speech, A would be better.
