Is this sentence correct:
"The dolphin came to the surface of the water, and let out a squeal."

It is OK, just a bit verbpse.
"The dolphin came to the surface, and let out a squeal."
A Dolphin is already known to occupy water.
A comma isn’t needed after water
Unlike what you might have seen in the Flipper movies, in real life dolphins do not emit squeals.
