Is it worth getting a flash drive for android phone?

So I recently bought a flash drive for my Pixel 4 phone for $26 from Amazon. I liked it but when I plugged it back onto my phone after transferring files from my phone to laptop, there was an error message and I had to format the flash drive erasing all data to use on my phone. I did back up the data on my laptop which I then transferred to a hard drive. The only reason I got a flash drive with a USB C adapter is so that I can back my music files on it and erase from my phone for more storage. What is the point of using the flash drive if I have to format it every time? Maybe I got a cheap one? What do you guys think? I think I might be returning my flash drive to Amazon. I have 80 GB of music on my 128 GB Pixel 4 and I can back it on a hard drive instead of a portable flash drive. What are some good flash drives?

The flash drive seemed to work a second time. I'm not sure how effective these products are. So is it worth keeping and giving it a chance or should I just return it?

with HDDs being so cheap, I'd go that route anyway.  Android operating system is not as stable as the iOS system -- so you're getting what you paid for.  ask phone maker via their support pages for help

To use a flash drive on android phones you'll need an adapter that has your phones port and a USB hub.  If you're talking about microSD cards.  Yeah as long, as you get a fast one.  You can download torrents and have them save their self to it.  But for security reasons you can't do much else.
