The molar enthalpy of reaction of

C5H12(g) + 8 O2(g) → 5 CO2(g) + 6 H2O(g)

is -3244.8 kJ/mol for C5H12(g). If 100.0g of oxygen gas react, how much heat is released by the reaction?

✔ 最佳答案
Molar mass of O₂ = 16.00×2 = 32.00 g/mol
Moles of O₂ reacted = (100.0 g) / (32.00 g/mol) = 3.125 mol

According to the equation, mole ratio C₅H₁₂ : O₂ = 1 : 8
Moles of C₅H₁₂ reacted = (3.125 mol) × (1/8) = 0.390625 mol

Heat released = (0.390625 mol) × (3244.8 kJ/mol) = 1268 kJ

(100.0 g O2) / (31.99886 g O2/mol) x (3244.8 kJ / 8 mol O2) = 1268 kJ
