英文文法、語意分析?

The teachers are keen on the students taking part in the spelling bee.
= The teachers are keen on the students' taking part in the spelling bee.
老師們對於學生們參加拼字比賽（這件事）挺熱衷的。

這裡老師們熱衷的不是學生本身，而是學生參加拼字比賽這件事，所以 keen on 意思上的受詞是動名詞片語 taking part in，而不是 students。students' 只不過是限定語，表示是「學生們的參加」這件事。

在比較正式或嚴肅一點的說法，動名詞前面是用所有格的，但是普通口語或日常一點的說法，會把所有格直接用受格，特別是在及物動詞或介係詞後面，原本就會接受詞，這種情況下使用受格好像很自然，所以就會有下面這種兩句都可以的情況：

Do you mind my smoking?
--> Do you mind me smoking?

兩句意思一樣，只是 mind me smoking 比較隨便一些。

原句與關係代名詞 who 毫無關係。因為熱衷的不是學生本身，所以不會再有 who 的形容詞子句來形容是怎樣的學生，當然也不會是省略了 who are。

keen on 某人是喜愛某人，指被某人深深吸引，起了愛念。keen on 某事是對某事很有興趣，很熱衷。

如你所說 keen on a girl 是 （he is very attracted to her），他對學校裡的一位女生很動心。

如果原句意思是 The teachers are keen on the students，難道是「老師們認為學生們嫵媚動人，讓老師動了心？」而且還是專指對「(who are) taking part in the spelling bee 參加拼字比賽的學生們」讓老師覺得很吸引人。

從你的討論看，你的英文是有底子的，可以聯想到各方面英語語法的重點。但語言追根究柢還是離不了語意。假如硬從語法去分析，把 the students 當 keen on 的受詞，再把 who 子句簡化成分詞片語修飾 students，那意思上就太勉強了！

the students 的 the 指的是這些老師們的學生或是該校的學生，區別於天下所有的學生。與 the students who 關係代名詞的先行詞加限定 the 無關。

One drawback in TW Exam.is the common use of a sentence plus the 4 options ABCD to test the students, when the teacher demands the option is better and denies the students to think of other option ideas "in different situation" might be considered correct !
