這只不過由網友提供一種記憶生字的方法(拆字式),根本未必一定有根據, 如不認同就不必作參考, 用你自己的方法吧, 不一定勉強將字拆解哩!
牛津字典也有记載生字的根源 Word Origin, 
例如: require中, re- (代表强力) + quaerere (代表尋找).  强力尋找=要求
例如: resign中, re- (代表還原) + signare (代表簽名,蓋章).  取消簽名=辭職

require is a transitive verb which means need; depend on for success, fulfilment, etc. resign is an intransitive or transitive verb which means give up ( a post, claim, etc)  sign is either a noun or verb which means mark,  object to represent something or in the latter; write one's name on (a letter, document, etc) to show that one is the writer or that one accepts or agrees with the contents).

其實要考究源自"拉丁文"這個re-prefix的作用：

想像"不斷重覆地"發問/提問/提出="要求"答案=變成"要得到答案"="要對方應承"

其實這字根還有其他的"prefix"常用字查究：

inquire/enquire
en/in = within+query意思便是"深入"或"向裏面"查詢"內情"吧。

acquire
ac = "towards/direction"意思是有取向性或有特別關注點地發問(某一重點)。
