Your house is on fire. You only have one chance to save your pet dog, or a stranger. Who would you choose and why?

What's the stranger doing in my house?  He's probably an arsonist!

Why is there a stranger in my house and did he set the fire?  
So, probably the dog 

Why would a stranger need saving if *MY* house was on fire?

Maybe he's the one that set the fire in the first place.

The humane answer would be the stranger since they’re human, but let’s be honest in the event of an actual emergency if God forbid we ever have to be in a situation that OP described, I would likely go for my dog. Pets are family too you now?

I'll worry about that IF it ever happens.
