Sell apartment or rent out?

So I want to get another apartment in a different area. But I’m not sure what to do with my current apartment. Should I keep it and rent it out? Or should I just sell it? What’s the best financial thing to do?

Enough is enough!  You have posted this scenario at least 4 times and it is a violation of the TOS.

Being a landlord is a strange job.  All tenants automatically think you are rich.  Most think you are taking advantage of them.   I had someone on Yahoo Answers call ME a parasite because I own properties.  It takes unusual financial discipline to be a landlord and if I was starting over I wouldn't invest in rental properties now.

Being a landlord is not for everyone. Find & learn the laws for your state then decide if you really want to do it or not.

Sell.
Being a landlord is a job, and you have no idea how to do it or what the regulations are. You would undoubtably lose money.

yeah, sublet it and make money. just make sure you THOROUGHLY check out the tenant. (and don't tell your friends. they'll try to mooch it off you).

If you are in the US in this current environment when an over reaching government is killing landlords by allowing people to skip rent payments during the Chinese weaponized flu, sell.  In this environment you don't what the hassle and uncertainty of being a landlord.  That may change in the future, but for now, I'd want to have the certain cash from the sale rather than the uncertain payments that may stop if the economy goes south.  My answer would have been to keep the place and use it as an income property  if there were no plague and the government was not so against the needs of property owners.
