I read about that. So Kroger decided to close the stores. Good job Long Beach....

yep, a poor little mom'n'pop organisation like 'kroger' must be running on a pittance at these two, tiny, tiny stores and you could not expect the CEO to give up any part of his $14 Million salary to ensure the health of the people on the front line.

yes, your idea is good..... lets fund a multi million dollar business with taxpayer money that would have gone to the running of the city council

Guess you could put that to a vote amongst those whose taxes pay the salaries of the Long Beach City Council. But "government interference" is California's middle name. Just wait until AB5 goes national and puts every freelancer in the country out of business. You other 49 states can laugh but you've just put California's political machine in charge of the whole nation. 

Government overreaching is at an all-time high.  Businesses have an absolute right to pull up stakes and move to a place with less restrictions.  It's part of capitalism.  Of course, if there remains sufficient market in the resulting vacuum, others may jump in for the win-win, capitalizing on profits from Kroger's customer base, which Kroger chose to leave.

Do us all a favor and put your money where your mouth is. Get covid and die for the economy.

The government is sure showing those guys!   Now they have no jobs and less food stores. This the Great Reset where government will own all the stores actions  like they do in China.

Yeah, it is.  Not only that they have been passing the costs on so food is more expensive and two less stores means it's going to be even more expensive.
