原句是:
Many houses (that were) made entirely of china and painted in the brightest colors were scattered around.
倒裝句的主要目的是為了強調，將要強調的部份置于句前，增加了寫作的色彩!
這句要强調的部份是由過去分詞衍生的形容詞scattered，是句子的補語。如果將補語移到主詞前面，句子就要倒裝。

註: "made entirely of ..." 是分詞片語(reduction of relative clause)，形容詞性質修飾先行詞"many houses"。
