To use instead of another verb:-
My sister sings more happily (than I am).
I do but she does.
She likes to sing, and so do I.
What is she doing?
She is singing.
I am singing.
If used as a helping verb with another verb:-
Do you like it?
Yes I do.
Under the circumstances of conditions facts and action, you could use (I do) in certain expressions.
