I installed Windows 10 on a 12 year old PC. Pre-recorded videos didn't play well with the default video player. I replaced it with windows media player classic and now they play fine.
Now, I'm having the same problem playing online videos. They're extremely laggy. I assume I have to change the video player again, but how do I do that for online videos?
How do I get these videos to play?

you cannot just install Windows 10 on any old computer. it HAS to have video drivers for your version of Windows, or you will be running it ragged.it would be like driving a high-speed race car, but never taking it out of 1st gear, and expecting it to drive just as fast as all the other cars.
the video drivers let it shift into higher gears...

Use the Free Program VLC Media Player. It is much better than WMP.

Have you tried installing the VLC player? It seems to play what some of the others don't.

Lagging may have to do with your

On line gaming speed has to do with type of connection. Some are on DSL (phone lines) which are much slower than CABLE connections. Video player plays it as fast as it receives all the information. DSL is coming out a 1/2" pipe and cable is coming out of a pipe that is 3 " in diameter. (think of information flow like water) One you fill a bucket and the other you fill a swimming pool in the same time.
