Why did Jesus have to die to save man? Could he have of done it with out dying?

Of course He could have. He is God. He could have saved us by a simple act of His will. But He wanted to demonstrate for us the horror of sin, and the extent of His love for us.

Jesus didnt HAVE to die. It was an act of supreme love. He died to pay the penalty of death for OUR sins so that we no longer have to die for them.


John 15:13 KJV — Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.



John 10:18 KJV — No man taketh my life from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. 

An omnipotent god could have forgiven without anybody suffering, but it *chose* to have an innocent be tortured to death.
It's a bloodthirsty fiend. 

Sin is the Transgression of God's Law.
What is the price for breaking God's Law.. Death.
Jesus came to die in your place.
If Jesus did not die, then the price for your sins would not of been paid.

1 John 3:4 “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The atonement was actually in 2 parts. The first was when Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemene and sweat blood from every pore because of the pain He felt as He took upon Himself the sins and sorrows of the world. This was His greatest sacrifice. Afterwards, His sacrifice became complete as He died on the cross.

Because of the perfect justice of God, the actual payment for sin needed to be done. Otherwise, there is no justice. Broken laws have real penalties that someone must pay for. We could not do it for ourselves because we are finite beings in a temporal environment. Jesus is an infinite being and was able to complete an infinite sacrifice that would cover everything.

It seems strange that a real payment for sin needed to be done but perfect justice requires it.

Good question. The story, besides being ridiculous, doesn't make sense.

Someone wrote, "When I was an atheist". He was never an atheist.

It was a good narrative story after whatever they did before.  To be honest I think they jumped they shark with the loaves and fishes storyline.

If I were to say, "Jesus is dead", I don't think most believers would agree.
