NFL fans: Do you think Matthew Stafford will ever get elected to the Hall of Fame?

I'm sure it won't happen on the first ballot, unless the Lions somehow stumble into a Super Bowl win. He has put up some decent numbers, though.

Not likely.  You'd have to put in half the league if you put him in.  He's racked up numbers, but so has everyone else.  How many Hall of Famers can be playing in the same era?

I wouldn't.

I think you have to compare guys to their era-peers.  Stafford is up against Brady, Manning, Brees and Rodgers to start with.  Those are first-ballot guys.  Then you have to start ranking him against Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Tony Romo, Rivers, and Roethlisberger.  I think Stafford is better than probably none of them. I would have to compare Stafford to each in detail to be sure, but my shoot-from-the-hip opinion is that I wouldn't rank Stafford above any of them.

How many QBs from this era are you going to stuff into the HoF?  I don't think all of the above names belong in...and I don't think Stafford is above any of them.

Matt Stafford in the NFL Hall of Fame?

Move this question to the jokes & riddles section where it belongs.

With his paid admission, just like the rest of us. Football Reference shows the average for an HOF quarterback at 101 points. Stafford is at 45.  He has some decent numbers in a pass-happy era.  He has a dismal postseason history, making the playoffs only 25% of the time (3 in 12 seasons) and one and done each time (0-3 record).

No, Matthew Stafford has not won on a consistent basis during his career. The most damning stat is the fact that in 12 seasons, his teams have never won either a division title or a playoff game.

No, he won't make the Hall of Fame. ,With a better team he would have had a chance.
2020-12-16 4:05 am
At the rate he is playing now, probably not.
2020-12-16 8:56 am
he shouldn't he's overrated...

Better chance of Trump winning re-election
2020-12-16 3:38 am
No. All he has going for him is throwing yards. Doesn't have the wins, only one probowl, only 3 playoff appearances and hasn't won a game in the playoffs at all.

After he started kneeling to disrespect the US flag most American began to despise him.  Before that people just thought of him as a bloated face talentless oaf.  Now he's seen as a worthless anti-American moron.

well since he joined the lions he has not had a head coach, no running game, no offensive line, the lions have had no defense, the opposing team knows that all they have to do is stop the passing game and there's a good chance they will win, but they couldn't stop Stafford. the numbers he put up on such a shitty lions team warrants him a place in the hall of fame.
2020-12-20 11:53 am
No but he may get hired to sweep the floors in the Hall of Fame.

"Decent numbers" do not a Hall of Famer make.
2020-12-16 2:49 am
No.His claim to fame will be being dumb enough to keep signing with Detroit.
2020-12-20 2:06 am
Numbers aren't enough and he's not done much in the playoffs, so my answer is no.
2020-12-19 11:26 am
Definitely, he’s got the numbers it takes to pass muster.
2020-12-17 12:41 pm
probably not

WHEN PIGS FLY ...
2020-12-18 7:36 am
No he's a decent QB but no leader and hasn't won anything, who would you think he should be..
2020-12-17 11:19 pm
No, he is not among the top ten quarterbacks in the NFL during his entire career. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees Patrick Mahomes are most likely Hall of Famers. Even Philip Rivers has a better chance than Matt Stafford to be in the HOF but he won't get in either

No way they already let in to many above average players in Stafford has great enough talent but when it's on him to win the game he folds like a cheap suit .

Go ask Collin Coward he thinks he knows everything untill he brings on a expert who
makes him look like the fool he is.

Some guy named Mike Harmon after the Browns lost on monday night said the same old Browns what an idiot ! he should be fired
Lavar Arrington who was his partner that night on fox radio called him out and said he knew nothing about football Browns fans tweet that loser and give him hell .
2020-12-16 11:50 am
No, I don't think her will.
2020-12-16 1:23 am
I think he probably will make the Hall of Fame.  He's been a Pro-Bowler before.  He holds the current records for "fastest to" for several yardage milestones.  He does put up good numbers, he does well in come-back situations.

And let's not act like he's done, he's only 32 years old, so unless he ends up with some sort of bad injury, he's probably got another 5 years left.  Plenty of time for the Lions to at least put together a few good seasons - though probably not any great ones, we're talking about the Lions.
