2. Calculate the percent carbon in MSG, NaC5H8NO4 .
3. Calculate the percent hydrogen in MSG, NaC5H8NO4.
4.Calculate the percent nitrogen in MSG, NaC5H8NO4 .

The CALCULATIONS are shown below:

1.
Molar mass of NaC₅H₈NO₄ = (22.99 + 12.01×5 + 1.008×8 + 14.01 + 16.00×4) g/mol = 169.114 g/mol
% Na in MSG = (22.99/169.114) × 100% = 13.6%

2.
% C in MSG = (12.01×5/169.114) × 100% = 35.5%

3.
% H in MSG = (1.008×8/169.114) × 100% = 4.8%

4.
% N in MSG = (14.01/169.114) × 100% = 8.3%

5.
% O in MSG = (16.00×4/169.114) × 100% = 37.8%
