Many object to my use of "hate." Hate can be interpreted in a strong sense to be something that a Christian should not do. I will revise the question to this, "Why do some Christians (not all, not most, but some) dislike Catholics and/or the Catholic Church to such a degree that they would answer like this one has answered: 'I don't "hate" anyone but the Catholic Church needs to be completely destroyed.'
to Ogres are like Onions -- that is good theory. I had not heard that explanation before. Thanks. To all who keep insisting there is no hatred or strong dislike of the Catholic Church, all you have to do is look at some of these answers: "Catholicism, though,is indeed hateful and riddled with hypocrisy." "Catholicism changed the word of God into lies and they worship the Dragon (Satan) which gave power and strength unto the Beast (the Catholic Church)"
Based on these answers, I picked the Best Answer because it summarized the problem, and that is that Protestant preachers are teaching hatred/dislike for the Catholic Church. When I attend Catholic mass every week, we rarely if ever mention Protestants, but apparently there are some Protestant church services where the preacher goes on tirades against the Catholic Church.
