It could take another one to two months before your sense of taste and smell return after recovery from COVID-19. I had a tumor removed from my inner ear and the long operation caused by  the anesthesia  blocked my sense of taste for six months. All food had a metallic taste and I loss 30 pounds. The world's authority on smell and taste is Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, PA. To investigate and understand our senses, visit www.monell.org. The clinical name for loss of smell is called Anosmia.

All inflammations of a severe nature have the possibility of loosing your smell and taste.  Even a common cold.
Peace.
