How many moles of air are in an inflated basketball? Assume that the pressure in the ball is 210 kpa, the temperature is 325 K, and the radius of the ball is 0.2 m.

n = 0.14 mol n = 1.3 moln = 0.99 moln = 13.7 mol

Consider the air in the basketball:
Pressure, P = 210 kPa
Volume, V = (4/3)π(0.2)³ m³ = 0.0335 m³ = 33.5 L
No. of moles, n = ? mol
Gas constant, R = 8.314 L kPa / (mol K)
Temperature, T = 325 K

Gas law: PV = nRT
Then, n = PV/(RT)

No. of moles, n = 210 × 33.5 / (8.314 × 325) K = 2.6 mol

The answer: none of the four options
