What’s Halloween like in America?

We don't really celebrate it, it's just the perception

Kids running everywhere pretty much hard to drive. But then lots of candy and cool costumes 

We celebrate it in Canada as well.  The main thing is "trick or treating," where kids dress in costumes, and go door to door yelling "trick or treat," and the people in the houses will give them candy.  This  is done up to about the of 14 for some, and a bit younger for many.

Older kids,  and adults might have a Hallowe'en party, where costumes are worn, and there is a "spooky" theme.  Snacks might be decorated to look like bones for example.  Many will decorate their homes, or businesses as well, mostly on a horror theme.  Carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns is super popular.

A lot of money is spent on all of this -  only Christmas has more spending.  Hallowe'en is a big deal for many people.  People might even go to work in costumes, although this is not super common, but, it certainly does happen.  Usually, a business (like a bank, or particular store) will have all the employees in costume.

Americans are much like Canadians in this.  And, there are regional differences:  where I grew up (in British Columbia), firecrackers were a huge part of Hallowe'en, but, they aren't in other parts of Canada.  Many places in the USA have a "fright night."  Both places have buildings decorated as haunted houses that can be visited, with actors in ghoulish costumes jumping out, and things like that.

People wear costumes and hand out candy. There are events like haunted houses and haunted forests. Not really “haunted” though, they’re just set up for people to walk through and see spooky stuff and have people in costumes jump out at them from the shadows and startle them, or have actors acting like creepy vampires or mummies or whatever. It’s actually a pretty good time and the kids love it. 

It's getting more boring because of political correctness impose by liberals.

It's a fun holiday for children and adults. The kids get a new costume and lots of candy, and the adults dress up and go to parties. Who doesn't like to dress up? Halloween is one of our most jovial holidays.
