Leper’s colonies are modern day leper colonies. But I think the word you’re looking for is hospitals. 

No, they could have proposed something like that in march - like I did. But leper colonies had people stay in them for decades. Covid-19 facilities - I'm thinking holiday-resorts or cruise-ships - would see most people leave after  10-14 days
