Be is a linking verb there is/are to exist or to be present.
Be (verb)for intransitive +adv or prep=adv/prep to be located in a place;eg:-
Tainan is four miles away.----place
Jennifer is upstairs----place.
For adv/prep to happen at a time or place:-eg:-
The school party is on Saturday evening----time.
The meetings are always in the main hall-----place.
For adv/prep to remain in a place:-eg:-
The dead student has been in his room for hours---place.
They are here till the term ends.----time
For adv/prep to attend an event or to be present in a place, eg:-
Jennifer will be at the school party----to attend an event.
She will be here soon.------place
For adv/prep used in the perfect tenses: as to visit or call:-eg:
Has the postman been call yet?----a call
He had been abroad to mainland China many times.-----to visit
John has never been to Malaysia.---to visit
