No, it's not.  Wallace ask him to condemn them.  And Trump didn't stay what you misquoted.  He told them to "stand by".

Because, that's not what he said. He didn't say to "stand back and stand down". He said to "Stand back and Stand by".  There's a very large difference between telling a white supremacist group to stand down or to stand by. In fact, it's almost the exact opposite.

The Proud Boys were extremely happy with his words, and felt validated. They are standing by.

I heard it very well the first time, you conservative idiot.

I really think Trump was looking for the words 'stand down'.  He has trouble remembering words sometimes.  (I understand about that because I sometimes have that problem, and I'm not even as old as him.)  I believe Wallace said 'stand down'.

(In the interview Trump did a few days before, he wasn't able to remember the phrase 'herd immunity'. He said 'herd mentality', and he knew that was wrong.  A few words later he says 'herd-generated'.)

But even 'stand down' would have shown that Trump meant to tell his Proud Boys to sit tight until he gives the word.  'Stand back and stand by' is not much different from 'stand down'.  He was asked if he would REPUDIATE them, and he didn't do that by a long shot.

WHENEVER Trump is asked directly to distance himself from racists and white supremacists, he's not able to.  "Well, I don't even know who they are!  Who are we talking about here?"  C'mon now.

Actually Wallace asked him to “condemn white supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in Kenosha and as we've seen in Portland”

Trump did not condemn them.  He added “stand back” - which the white supremely group  Proud Boys actually took on as a slogan.

If that’s Trump’s attempt to condemn a group he failed miserably.

Ask the FBI and the governor of Michigan.

That's the most idiotic right wing attempt at deflection I've ever seen online. And that says a lot.
The right's running out of ammo, boys!
They're sending us this crap, now.

he said "stand by".   You know that's different, Dominick and not a mistake--it duplicates the Proud Boys slogan.  It's like a shared gang sign of support.  now, did I really have to explain this to you?
